Give It A Shot - Kings of Prohibition Cabernet Shiraz Red Blend

One of our goals at About Beverages that we speak of often, both on air and off, is that we need to be better at giving our followers and listeners more advance notice as to what we will be trying on our podcasts. It is a definite growth area for us and we promise you we will get better. There is a benefit to this more relaxed style as it does allow for more spontaneity when something unexpectedly presents itself. Such is the case this week. We will be trying the Kings of Prohibition Australian red wine blend from Trader Joe’s, which just recently hit the shelves. It is a blend of Cabernet and Shiraz from the Barossa Valley and it comes in a cool looking bottle with a nice backstory and tie in to the effects of prohibition around the world.  What did we think? What do you think?  Let us know in the comments below or join us live on Thursday nights to give us your feedback while we are live streaming on Twitch.

Give It A Shot - Trader Joe's Reserve Barossa Shiraz 2016

Sometimes a beverage comes along that immediately grabs your attention. It could be the latest release from your favorite brewery, a new twist on an old favorite from a trusted distillery, or maybe it is something as simple as the eye catching packaging. This podcast features a wine that made us take immediate notice for two reasons. One, it was made from one of our favorite grapes from a great growing region for this varietal. Two, it is from a trusted source for great wines at value driven prices. The wine we are trying this week is the Trader Joe’s Reserve Shiraz from Barossa in Australia. This bottle would retail from $20-$25 if it wasn’t private labeled exclusively for Trader Joe’s. Listen and drink along with us as we see if this wine has the “legs” to stand on, or at least to cling to the inside of our glasses.  What do you think? AboutBeverages.com Podcast: Give It A Shot - 2009 Yellow Tail Shiraz

It is time once again for our "Give It A Shot" podcast where we share with you, our valued listener, something we discovered that needs to be shared immediately.  If you have any ideas for future episodes of "Give It A Shot" please don't hesitate to contact us.  If you want to bend our ear you can always send us an email to AboutBeverages@q.com  or have a seat at The Round Table and start a discussion in our forums.  Taking a small break from our fall seasonal beers, we decided to throw in a wine that is the very definition of mass market.  It's the 2009 Yellow Tail Shiraz and it can be found anywhere wine is sold.  Seriously.  In general, this brand is so popular that if go to a store that only sells beer, they will still have this wine.  Does all of this mean that it's any good?  We shall find out.
