Give It A Shot - Alamos Malbec 2018

Just when you thought we couldn’t possibly do another wine podcast, we have gone and done the unthinkable; another wine podcast! For those of you counting along with us at home, that’s three in a row and all of them are Malbecs or have Malbec as the dominant grape. After the mixed results of the previous two left us wondering if we were mis-remembering Malbec, we decided to put an end to this particular beverage arc by trying a Malbec that we would consider a benchmark, one that we are familiar with and know that we have liked in the past. The beverage that we are trying for this episode is the Alamos Malbec 2018. Like the previous two wines, this also comes from Argentina. What did we think? What do you think?  Let us know in the comments below or join us live on Thursday nights to give us your feedback while we are live streaming on Twitch.

Give It A Shot - Tiano and Nareno Traversia 1908 Argentina Malbec 2013

For quite a while now, we have talked about wanting to try a wine that would normally be out of our price range to see if there was “value” for us at that level. Thanks to the support of our viewers, followers, and most importantly, our subscribers, we were able to do that for the first time on this episode. Andrew recently became affiliated with a new type of wine club and that is how we came by the bottle we have for this podcast. The wine that we will be trying is the Tiano and Nareno Traversia 1908 Argentina Malbec 2013. The “club” where we were able to procure this wine from is a new enterprise from entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk called Winetext. Once you sign up, he will regularly text you opportunities to buy great wines at amazing prices. For example, after a bit of research, the wine we tried for this podcast was found offered at prices ranging from the low $200’s to the mid $200’s and we were able to purchase it for $50. Needless to say, we were really looking forward to trying this bottle! What did we think? What do you think?  Let us know in the comments below or join us live on Thursday nights to give us your feedback while we are live streaming on Twitch.

Give It A Shot - Finca Flichman Gestos Malbec Mendoza Argentina 2016

We hope that you realized we did not put up any content last week, but that you did not miss us too much and will not hold it against us. The past 2 weeks have been somewhat crazy for both of us with celebrations, brand new starts, and emotions a-plenty. Now that the tears have subsided and we all settle into this years new routines, we at About Beverages are excited to be settling back into our regular schedule of sharing delicious beverages with you and having a lot of fun while we do it. This episode will feature the first of two wines that we tried that are both from Argentina. Next weeks wine was the bottle we created this theme around as it is a special bottle that Andrew purchased through a new website, but more on that next week. To start off this South American wine themed week we will be trying the Gestos Malbec and Malbec from Trader Joe’s. It is the 2016 vintage and is a blend of Malbec grapes grown at 2 elevations, hence the “Malbec and Malbec’ name. What did we think? What do you think?  Let us know in the comments below or join us live on Thursday nights to give us your feedback while we are live streaming on Twitch.

AboutBeverages.com Podcast: Give It A Shot - 2008 Kaiken Malbec

It is time once again for our "Give It A Shot" podcast where we share with you, our valued listener, something we discovered that needs to be shared immediately.  If you have any ideas for future episodes of "Give It A Shot" please don't hesitate to contact us.  If you want to bend our ear you can always send us an email to AboutBeverages@q.com  or have a seat at The Round Table and start a discussion in our forums.  In this podcast, we will be trying a red wine grape not yet explored on any of our previous podcasts.  The grape is Malbec and this one is a 2008 from Kaiken, a winery in Argentina. Malbec is traditionally one of the Bordeaux grape varietals, but also does well in the warm climate of Argentina.  We are not "Malbexperts," but we are looking forward to trying this wine and sharing our impressions with you.
