Give It A Shot - Trader Joe's Brut Rosé North Coast Sparkling Wine

How can it be that we are in the last month of the year already? The holidays are rapidly approaching and along with them come the build up, craziness, fun, love, laughter, and of course, delicious beverages we know and love about this time of the year. As we have done all year, we are here to guide you through the maze of wonderful options to help you make a choice that is perfect for however you celebrate the season. To start things off we have decided to visit a bubbly. While this type of beverage is most commonly thought of for end of the year celebrating, you may want to consider one (or two) for the weeks leading up to New Year’s as well. Perhaps even all year round. The beverage we will be trying today is the Trader Joe’s North Coast Reserve Brut Rose. This sparkler is available every year for a few months, usually beginning in early November, and is exclusive to Trader Joe’s.  What did we think? Give It A Shot - Oak Ridge Winery OZV Lodi Zinfandel 2016

We know what you are thinking. You just watched a new video from us yesterday so how could there possibly be another one available already? Here at About Beverages we are dedicated not only to beverages, but more importantly, to you, our loyal followers and listeners. With that in mind, we are happy to offer you the final installment in our series of beverages that we feel could be featured at your Thanksgiving dinner. This podcast features a wine, and a varietal that is not the first to come to mind when one thinks of Thanksgiving; Zinfandel. Over the years, this grape has made several appearances at our holiday table and has been quite successful. Hopefully this particular wine will carry that tradition forward. The wine that we will be trying is the Oak Ridge Winery OZV old vine Zinfandel from Lodi. We feel the best Zinfandels offer both fruit and spice for an overall balanced flavor profile.  What did we think? Give It A Shot - Modern Times Beer Membata Coffee Stout

We know that it is getting down to the wire, but better late than never as we continue on with our Thanksgiving suggestions podcasts. We change gears as we move to the beer category to discuss something we think could be a part of your celebration. We will be trying the Membata from Modern Times, which many of you know is one of our favorite breweries. This beer is a coffee stout, but other than that, we were not able to find too much information. Based on our experience and our familiarity with Modern Times, we are hoping that this beer helps you take the step from beverages paired with turkey and sides to beverages paired with dessert and eventually to heavier sippers consumed slowly around the glow of the fire. At least those are our plans...  What did we think? Give It A Shot - Chateau Ste. Michelle Gewurztraminer

Don’t look now, but Thanksgiving is almost here! This year is one of the years when it arrives at the earliest possible date that it can. It is always the fourth Thursday of November and this year the first Thursday fell on the very first day of the month. In the spirit of trying to help you with your Turkey Day beverage selections, we have decided to share some selections that may help you make that decision. First up is the Chateau Ste. Michelle Gewurztraminer. The winery, which is located in Washington state, has many different offerings across the wine spectrum. The Gewurztraminer grape is typically known for being lower in alcohol, off-dry (or semi-sweet) with notes of lychee fruit. We are hoping this will be a great jumping off point for our Thanksgiving Day beverage guide.  What did we think? Give It A Shot - Pizza Port Brewing Party Shirt Pale Ale

Who doesn’t love a party? Especially at this time of year there is no shortage of available opportunities and occasions for which one can be thrown. Although they can be logistically challenging and fiscally overwhelming, one need not go all out to have a celebration. It only need be a quiet night with that special someone (even if that someone is you). As for the occasion? How about just because. Because it’s today. Because you feel like it. Because you are alive. Because we had another one of those amazing Arizona sunsets. There are lots of reasons to embrace the party that is today. If by chance you need some liquid refreshment for that celebration, we have something that might help you out. At the very least, the can will help to put one in a party kind of mood. This week we will be trying the Party Shirt Pale ale from Pizza Port Brewing. The brewery is celebrating this as a crisp, hop forward pale ale showcasing a variety of fruit notes. What did we think? Give It A Shot - Stone Brewing MoJay IPA

Sometimes the availability of a beer, much like time itself, is fleeting. Through the lens of youth, one looks to the future and it seems endless. In what seems like the blink of an experienced eye we realize that is not the case and no matter what your age tomorrow is promised to no one. On a similar, though not as deeply philosophical scale, a delicious beer being available tomorrow is also promised to no one. In addition to their usual offerings, most breweries now brew beers to only be offered at the brewery or in very limited release. These “one-offs” are most often highly prized and are rewards for those individuals willing to sacrifice their time and a few extra hard-earned dollars to procure them. We are fortunate to have one of these beers on our podcast. This week we will be trying the Mojay IPA from Stone Brewing. It is made with Mosaic hops and according to the people at Stone it brought to mind fresh squeezed orange juice, hence the name.  What did we think? Give It A Shot - Elysian Brewing The Great Pumpkin Imperial Ale

We have made it! This week brings the final installment of our yearly pumpkin beer odyssey, the 2018 version. On this show we find ourselves visiting the same brewery as our first pumpkin beer from this year, Elysian. It’s the Great Pumpkin, actually, the Great Pumpkin Imperial ale, that is. Like the Night Owl, this beer is also brewed with real pumpkin (one of our prerequisites to be included on our show), but it is an Imperial Ale and comes in at 8%ABV.  What did we think? What do you think?  Let us know in the comments below or join us live on Thursday nights to give us your feedback while we are live streaming on Twitch.

Give It A Shot - Breckenridge Brewery Nitro Pumpkin Spice Latte

For the third installment of our pumpkin beer podcast series we turned to a beer that is not your everyday pumpkin beer. This one has a lot going on inside its 16oz aluminum can. Not only is it a pumpkin spice beer, it is also pumpkin, nitro, coffee, and a stout. Whew, we hope we didn’t forget to list anything. The beer we will be trying on this podcast is the Breckinridge Brewery Nitro Fall Seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte Pumpkin Coffee Stout. We were hoping for something different yet deliciously seasonal.  What did we think?
